Blackfin is using the 2.6.12 kernel. In the 2.6 series the uClinux or the [MMU-less] Linux options are actually built-in and integrated into the kernel. The key features in the 2.6 kernel include a better scheduler, native thread support built into the kernel, access large memory, an I/O scheduler and the start of power management and wireless integration. It’s important, when working with an open-source software package, to keep the original source and keep the changes as patches.
