Another method of temperature measurement using thermocouples will be discussed in the next few slides. There are many ways to implement cold junction compensation (CJC), such as dedicated thermocouple signal conditioners that measure T2 and VSENS and then do CJC signal manipulation in the analog domain. But MicroConverter products can perform CJC functions in software which can be beneficial in a number of ways. Simply convert the VSENS voltage and the T2 temperature to digital values and the rest can be done in software. Shown here is a generic hardware configuration to do exactly that.
