Shown here is the need for signal conditioning with long reaches of cable. The first line is the waveform starting at the source (TP1), after the cable (TP2) and after a buffer with no EQ. As shown in the waveform, there is a lot of jitter and not great quality. When signal conditioning is used at the transmit stage as shown in line two, the waveform at the end of the cable (TP2) is better. After applying an equalizer, the jitter is vastly reduced and signal quality is good.
