Omega2 Pro Single-Board Computer for IoT

The Omega2 Pro from Onion Corporation is a ready-to-use single-board computer for Internet of Things and lightweight computing applications, and is based on the Omega2S+ IoT SoM. The Omega2 Pro is a standalone device - the MIPS processor, memory, gigabytes of storage, and Wi-Fi are all built-in - and the small form factor makes it easy to integrate in most environments. It is a fully functional Linux development board - it can be used to evaluate the Omega2S+ module, for early prototyping of applications, or even to be deployed as part of a solution, IoT or otherwise.

It was designed to be easy to use and to get up and running fast. The storage is pre-loaded with the OpenWrt embedded Linux distro. The micro USB port provides power and serial access to the command line, which is invaluable for easy access and debugging.

The mature Linux networking stack makes it easy to use the onboard Wi-Fi interface: it can simultaneously host its own Wi-Fi access point and connect to existing Wi-Fi networks. With the Onion Ethernet Expansion, wired networking capabilities can be added as well. The Linux operating system supports modern programming languages, such as Python, GoLang, NodeJS, Rust, PHP, C, and C++, and there is a wealth of existing software packages that can be leveraged, so nothing has to be built from scratch.

The I/Os are exposed on the header, providing access to GPIOs, I²C, serial UART, Ethernet, PWM channels, and more, making it simple to interface with other devices and components that are part of an IoT solution. The onboard battery management functionality enables the use of LiPo batteries. The battery can be used as the main power source and charges when the Omega2 Pro is connected via USB or can act as a backup power supply.
