Image of Wolfspeed XM Silicon Carbide Power Module PlatformWolfspeed has developed the XM power module platform to maximize the benefits of silicon carbide (SiC) while keeping the module and system design robust, simple, and cost-effective. The XM power module maximizes power density while minimizing loop inductance and enabling simple power bussing. The optimized packaging enables +175°C continuous junction operation with a high-reliability silicon nitride (Si3N4) power substrate to ensure mechanical robustness under extreme conditions.

Typical applications include traction drives, DC fast chargers, universal power supplies, and automotive testing equipment.

  • High-frequency, ultra-fast switching operation
  • Miller clamp to prevent cross-conduction during switching transitions
  • On-board 2 W isolated power supplies
  • Primary OVLO and UVLO with hysteresis
  • On-board overcurrent, shoot-through, and reverse polarity protection
  • Differential inputs for increased noise immunity
  • Very low isolation capacitance
