CCRs have high anode-cathode voltage ratings which can withstand voltage surges in Automotive, Industrial and Commercial Applications. The scope trace shown is this slide was taken on a CCR circuit with three LEDs operating at 12 V. The voltage drop across all three LEDs is 6.0 V (the magenta scope trace). A 50 V 1.0 mS pulse was injected (the yellow scope trace). The CCR blocked the high voltage surge and completely absorbed the additional power being injected by the 50 V pulse. The 6.0 V across the LEDs remained constant.
